Profile

Born in Paris in 1946. Graduated from the conservatory in Paris with 1st prize in both flute and chamber music. One of the most active flutists in the world representing the current flute industry, being admired as "the world's best flutist" (by Mike Silverton, "Fanfare", New York)

He plays all sorts of flutes, ranging from piccolette to octabass flute which was developed for him and double bass flute. He also has a wide repertoire from classics to contemporary music, and is famous as a genius with superhuman technique and musicianship, and he is a super soloist who has a relationship with orchestras conducted by P. Boulez, P. Eotvos, J-C Casadesus. Awarded with the Grand Prix for interpretation of french contemporary music by the Sacem, the Prix Charles Cros for the Artaud/Ferneyhough record, the Grand Prix de l'Academie du Disque francais, the Japanese Grand Prix for the Hosokawa record, the Prix for pedagogy by the Sacem and so on, he wrote many books, too.

He is now professor at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris and l'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.
